THE MANIFESTATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT AND A MEDITATION ON THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR LIVES NOW

March 14th, 2022

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire”. – Matthew 3:11

“And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God”. – Luke 1:35

The Holy spirit is the presence of Jesus; it is one with Jesus not separate. It has always been so, but the holy spirit’s  influence and presence became exponentially brighter when God was born on earth, and then especially in the resurrection. This is extremely valuable for our heart of faith to contemplate.
Before being born on earth God is known as Jehovah. The holy spirit in its essence is the divine truth, especially the power of divine truth. There is no greater power in the universe than the power of divine truth from the Lord. It possesses all innocence and goodness and arising from this is complete, comprehensive and immutable power of truth that all things and all powers have no ability but to bow to. It occupies the core from goodness and so nothing is above it, or can overcome it. What ever come from the Lord’s will is divine truth and will come true in time. This is why all prophecy from the Old Testament came true no matter how long it took. Prophecy is divine because the will of God, and therefore it all came true in the New Testament. This scripture speaks to this power:

“A branch will come out of the trunk of Jesse. The spirit of Jehovah will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and intelligence, the spirit of counsel and strength. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the spirit of his lips he will kill the ungodly. Justice will be his loincloth, and the truth will wrap his thighs. (Isaiah 11:1, 2, 4, 5)

For the good people seeking to be regenerated the Holy spirit is the comforter. It brings justice, reconciliation, knowledge and love to the poor in spirit. To the evil it also brings justice, but devastation, exposure and to be put in their place – for they hate God and His people; they think they should be in power and not God. In the scripture we see relatively small but telling examples of this power. When the people want to stone the adulterous woman, Jesus says, “Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.” This stuns their conscience with the truth, and they are unable to act. When Jesus announces himself as the Messiah with the words, “Today these scriptures are fulfilled”, the people want to stone him and throw him off a cliff, but Jesus passes through them unharmed. When Jesus is arrested the soldiers want take hold of him, but Jesus flexes His power and they all fall to the ground around him.
These are a few examples, but there are many.

In the gospels we see how He has complete power over demons who possess others. In the big picture Jesus was been born to defeat all the powers of evil that had overrun the earth, much of the world spirits, and even the lower parts of heaven. The scripture tells that ‘violence is done even to heaven’. We can take comfort and assurance in the fact that Jesus has all power. When we love and believe in Him he takes us under His wing ‘like a mother hen’. We come under his power and protection when we acknowledge and love him in heart. This causes His presence (holy spirit) to be with us. This is the efficacy of prayer.

It is also very important to understand that even though Jesus has omnipotent power He leaves us in freedom, for Man can only be transformed in freedom. Jesus obeyed His own laws of divine order. In His life on earth He worked within the laws of freedom to transform man. In the garden when He is arrested Peter takes his sward and fights the soldiers and Jesus tells him to stop, saying, “don’t you know I could bring down legions of angels to defeat my enemies?”. But He does not. He could do this anytime He wanted but He knows the transformation in Man’s soul must take place reciprocally, that is, in freedom, from Man’s own will to meet Him.
Now is it very important to see how the Holy spirit (the presence of Jesus) came into its full manifestation when Jesus was born on earth and resurrected. Jesus is ‘the bridge’ because He entered the natural world, and by doing this made Himself known to Man and renewed everything.
“[The Comforter] will glorify me because he will take from what is mine and will make it known to you. Everything the Father has is mine. This is why I said that [the Comforter] will take from what is mine and will make it known to you”. (John 16:14, 15) In mentioning the Comforter and the Holy Spirit, the Lord was referring to himself. This is clear from these words of his: “The world would not recognize him but you know him; I will not leave you orphans, I am coming to you; you will see me.” And elsewhere, “Behold I am with you every day, even to the close of the age” (Matthew 28:20

When the Lord told the disciples that it is expedient that I accomplish my mission and die on the cross for then I will send you the Holy spirit, He is describing this situation: Before He was born God was in the celestial and spiritual, but had never existed in the natural/physical level. By being born on earth He entered the physical and He made even the natural bend to His will by making His physical body divine. In doing this He brought the celestial, spiritual and physical into complete presence and wholeness. What is in its wholeness from the lowest natural to the highest is in its power. This caused exponentially greater light to the life of Man. By dying and resurrecting He entered the innermost of all things, and ‘drew all things unto himself’. This ‘exponentially greater light’ is the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the comforter. This is what is meant when Isaiah says, “The light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun;” and when John writes in Revelation, “The contenance of the son of man was as the sun shinning in his strength.”
Before the resurrection, there was an intermediate step to be connected to God and heaven by way of the representative church of the Jews in the Old Testament. After the resurrection, all people in all places at all times are in direct relationship with the Lord – if they so choose. This is expressed in the words of David, “In his days shall the righteous flourish, and the abundance of peace until there is no longer any moon.”

In our spiritual life now, in this day, the Holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus, the fire that proceeds from God, and that kindles in our breasts a spiritual passion to know the Lord and for God’s will to prevail in this painful world. The Holy spirit ever urges us to seek union between our body and soul, to seek the marriage of our understanding and love, that together, creates a burning thirst in us that only He can satisfy. God is in His people. The Holy Spirit compels us to find the way to express, and manifest what God has given us to do.

The Holy Spirit proposes a puzzle that we must work out in our hearts, and by our actions in the world; and to the degree we do we BOND with God – the only true glory afforded to humans (received as if by brushing the hem of His robe). The Holy Spirit simultaneously inspires in us the willingness to humbly submit to God’s will – and the strength to see through deception and fight evil. The Holy spirit first kindles an anxiety of unknown cause and purpose, but if we persevere through the fog of anxiety, and there are time when it clears, and the desire to be right with God leads us to understand and to inspire others. This cannot help but lead us to confront and expose the deceptions of those of ill-intent – and to do it with love – which sometime may requite and engender composure and fierce determination. The Holy Spirit moves us to honor the good deeds and sacrifices of others, and especially to honor the one who redeemed all humanity by His deeds and sacrifice. Honor is for men and woman, Worship is honor to God, something only He is worthy of.

THE MEANING OF THE VERSE – “No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old”

February 21st, 2022
SOMEON ASKED – “What is the meaning of this verse, “No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed’. – Isaiah 65: 20

This verse follows and is part of the description of the wonder and promise of the Holy city in the New Jerusalem. The verse before it says “I will rejoice in Jerusalem, And joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying”.
The verse at the top is describing the process of getting there. ‘A hundred years old’ means a complete state of union. In Matthew – “Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields, for My name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will be allotted the inheritance of eternal life” – Matt. 19:29. Here ‘a hundredfold’ stands for that which is complete, otherwise described as ‘good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over’, in Luke 6:38. Also In Luke, “Some seed fell on good ground, and when it had grown up it brought forth fruit a hundredfold”. – Luke 8:8
These scriptures also show that becoming complete is a process. Before even being regenerated a person must be prepared. The innocence of childhood is essential in this; but the innocence of childhood is an external innocence until it is incorporated into the soul by ones own intelligence and will. This is in preparation for one becoming willing to be led by the Lord. A person can only be regenerated when they come of age (or later), for not until then is he or she able to exercise reason and judgement, and by so doing to receive a principled soul of goods and truths from the Lord.
Before entering that state he or she is being prepared by experiences that serve as ‘the soil’ for receiving the seeds of truth and good. A person is not aware of how the Lord is providentially preparing them, but they are responding intuitively to His prompting. This takes place during learning to work, education, making a living, having a responsibility or any number of paths in life. Through these things the Lord providentially guides us so that our states of innocence can be combined with our intelligence. This builds thoughts and feelings that make one receptive to God. Often this involves periods of deep grief or loss that ‘soften the soil’ of the soul.
This implantation occurs for many years before regeneration takes place. When a person has been endowed with these things and so has been prepared, his state is now said to be complete, for the things that are interior have been arranged. Remains bonded in the soul allow a person to receive and be regenerated by the Lord.
In heaven this scripture has another related meaning. All children who die young to heaven and are taught there by angels. Because they have not yet formed their own conscience they are all capable of being taught the good and truths of heaven by wise angels. Everyone born has hereditary evil so this is a process also. Children and those with innocence will increase in joy and wisdom for eternity. Old men and women there do not remain old but gradually return to the bloom of youth because the innocence in their soul is continually increasing and bonding with their wisdom. Innocent children are not angles but in time become angels and grow in love and wisdom forever.
The scripture above also describes ‘the accursed’, which are those who refuse to undergo this process and so go in the opposite direction. Those who willfully reject Him, and come to love to harm, hate and destroy are kept separate from heaven in hell. They are governed by the Lord there to not sink into a deeper and worse state.
The Lord provides peace to the heavenly and there is no longer weeping from the fear of the evil, their ‘tears are wiped away’, as they move ever more into new internal skills and gifts in their heavenly life. The Lord by His might brings light and justice to all.
Swedenborg adds are remarkable passage about the 100 years that shows how remains give us an idea of the Lord’s glorification process: “These things that are so with man may serve to illustrate what is meant by a complete state of the Human united to the Divine in the Lord. That is to say, they may illustrate the state when the Lord by His own power – through the conflicts brought about by temptations and through victories, and through the powers of Divine wisdom and intelligence – gathered to Himself within the Human, that is, within the Rational, so much of the Divine that He was able to unite the Divine itself to the Divine acquired within the Rational. And it was to represent this state that, even though Abraham had spent many years in the land of Canaan, Isaac was not born to him until he was a hundred years old. These are the arcana contained within the number ‘a hundred years’, which was Abraham’s age”. – AC 2636

THE LORD TEACHES US NOT TO BE LUKEWARM: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE LUKEWARM AND WHY DOES THE LORD COMPARE IT TO VOMIT

February 7th, 2022

“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth”. – Revelation 3:16

To be lukewarm is to be non-committal, to have no fear or respect for who and what God is. The Lord’s love and wisdom is all powerful in universe; to be lukewarm is a fools game. Yet, by His divine order He leaves in freedom to choose. Also, by His divine order – no one gets away with being neutral to God, that is a vain impossibility. Being lukewarm is a matter of will, and our will by nature favors God or not. To think we can be in between is being Lukewarm – which the Lord compares to vomit. To presume to be neutral is an illusion, a farce; it pretends to be passive and objective, but with God this is not possible; it is really an act of the will to avoid. To be lukewarm is to deny the relevance of God in life so that one does not have to take responsibility for their actions even for the state of their soul. Those who do this can’t help but use the pseudo philosophy of relativizing. Relativizing is an external minded way of looking at everything, where all points of views are made of equal value, and by this they can justify anything. Children do this when they say something like’ ‘Tommy did it so I should be able to to’. In this false philosophy reason becomes the servant of emotion which quickly becomes the servant of hell.
This syndrome often goes along with trauma, but it is a negative response to trauma, which causes it to be a deep root rut in the psyche. We do well to be very understanding toward trauma for it is difficult and often unjust, but at some point one must seek forgiving within themself. God understand the difficulty but asks us to examine ourself. Healing from trauma requires compassion and understanding, but relativizing separates insight and feeds the negative because it is a cut-off, and shut down from responding and learning. This blocks healing. Relativizing is designed to insulate pain and protect against connection and growth. But the pain doesn’t go anywhere. It stays and perpetuates denial and leads to narcissism.
In truth all good doctrine, religion, spirituality and philosophy is based on the principle of union. The root of this truth comes from the Lord – wherein lays the Holy union (marriage) of his divine body and divine soul. Thus, from Him proceeds the cause and pattern of all truth – which is to seek union between our love and intelligence. For instance, with a person in the state of good the love and wisdom in their heart shines from their face and eyes, and thus it is apparent to all with sense that that person is in harmony. With those who are lukewarm it is the opposite; they put a wedge between the primary affections in their heart and the look on their face in order to hide and deflect. The Lukewarm separate love and wisdom – which is also the goal of hell.
To be vomited out of the mouth of the Lord is to be rejected from the body of Christ, and thus the kingdom of heaven.
As human beings we are made in such a way that we must have something reliable to trust in life. It is innate to the life breath and health of our body mind and soul. To do so we must reach-out of our own will, we must show we are ‘either for or against’ God. God can always be trusted, under all circumstances, so in the end whether it be easy or hard – there is no excuse for not reaching to Him.
Our identity fully comes into being when we are willing to stand for something good, to put our whole self into it. By this we lay many evils to the wayside and become a more whole person.

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE BORN AGAIN, AND THE PROCESS BY WHICH IS MAY BE IDENTIFIED: THE EXAMPLE OF NICODEMUS

February 5th, 2022

I think this is something the Lord only knows and governs but I think we can see signs of it from within themself if we are very honest. Being born again is a process of being regenerated from the evils in our nature that we have from head to toe. This is always a process but the point of being ‘born again’ is when the Lord trusts is to enter into internal knowledge and love of the Word. It is a process getting there and afterward. The Lord only allows a person into the internal sense of the Word and a relationship with Him when He sees that a person will be true to it to the end of life. If one were to turn against their love of the Word or the Lord – it has terrible consequence in the spiritual world. For once it is loved the bond with the Word cannot be removed; it remains forever. But if one then turns against it, this denial is of hate, and the person now has the other foot in hell.

This duplicity is not allowed in the spiritual world. There is no such thing as being neutral to the Lord. We are ‘either for or against Him’, there is no in between, He is the ‘plumb line’, the measure of all things. It is not possible to have one foot in heaven and one in hell because heavenly light and hellish light cannot exist together or be in the same place. Every person must have a ruling love that is heavenly or hellish. This is why all that are capable of being in heaven are gradually vastated of the hellish loves and beliefs; and all those going to hell are vastated of heavenly beliefs and loves. All this shows how important it is that one only be allowed into the internal of the Word when they are truly ready. This is the seminal point of transition, and the Lord from His infinite wisdom governs all of this.
Nicodemus is a good example of this in the Bible. “Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” This is clearly a very literal and external idea of what Jesus means by ‘being born again of the spirit’. Being born of the spirit is of the internal man, and the internal man grows out of the external man’s grief and loss. A new plant grows out of the manure of the old plant. One does not put ‘New wine in old wine skin’ is the Bibles concise expression of this.
It is likely that Nicodemus defended Jesus in counsels of the Sanhedrin concerning Jesus’ trial, (though we don’t see this directly in the Word), but after His resurrection it is written: “And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds”. By saying ‘who at first came to Him in the night’ the Word is showing that Nicodemus now comes to the Lord ‘in the light’. Also, Nicodemus’ great gesture of giving the gifts shows his love and devotion. The gifts given represent the gifts of the spirit that Nicodemus received in his heart and mind, which is a great indication of his transformation to the internal relationship.

A Perception, A Prostration, A Prayer to the Holy Face and Throne of God

January 26th, 2021

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (Revelation)

This is an expression of the innermost core of all truth. It is at once as tender as the soft green new-growth on a leaf, and a description of immutable power – the unfathomable power of the presence of divine truth and love from the Lord. It must be known that this love and truth springs from the Holy marriage in the soul of the divine human. The Holy marriage of His body and soul produces Holy fire. Its power is omnipotent, and infinite in its variety of meaning and gifts. Truth is centered in the throne of His soul, and it flows like a river from His soul. The result of the union of His divine soul and divine body is the fountain of life; it is a well – where are produced and from which proceed – the infinite and endless wonders, gifts, light and inspiration that sustain and vivify all life on earth and in heaven. The gifts are represented in the leaves, the fruit and the flowers of the tree of life.

In the magnificent tree sap streams up, like water in the veins of a fountain, and the sap produces the continually-renewed particulars of truth expressed in the leaves and the fruit – the later of which are adapted  for the reception of man. The bark of the tree protects the precious inner parts and processes that sustain life, just as the skin of a human protects and holds the form of the precious inner organs. The outer and the inner are in complete wholeness from which it builds its power. On the bark surrounding the tree, if one were to look at any particular part, you would see exquisite patterns of such beauty one’s heart and mind would overflow with wonder. How much more if one were to perceive the beauty and purpose of the internal workings, or of the whole picture? Can we, is it too much for us to look upon the love of the face of God? Will we someday….? Nevertheless, He gives us himself in the gardens, the fruits and mansions, the light and seeds, the natural manifestations and the eternal principles that fulfill our mind, soul, and body.

Please Lord, some day, allow us the unspeakable love of looking upon your face. Your face is implanted in the innermost core of our soul, for we fully acknowledge that we do in fact receive life and all goodness from you. We are afraid Father, we are but dense men, help us to see. We can only know you as a human, the divine human, our Father, Mother, Friend, Hero, Comforter. Guide the yearnings of our heart to always turn our face to you, to look toward you as do the angels.

The Heart of 80 million Patriots are Broken By a Few Evil Overlords. What Happens When Evil Wins? Keep the Faith, God Providence Is In America

January 9th, 2021

Very painful to see what is happening here. The conservatives lost the senate, dems cheated again, and Trump will probably be out, unless he declares martial law. The dems pulled off the greatest crime in history. Stealing the presidency from 80 million people who love Trump – by a dedicated coup by corrupting our voting system. Trump has been the best – all time superb greatness for God – and the people of faith have been great, but many in the Republican party betrayed Trump. It’s shameful. Now they are taking away the ability to communicate, taking our voice away if they can, taking away freedoms, relentlessly trying to discourage the heart of the people. We the people can’t let them get away with it.

A patient told me the other day (as many have in varying ways over the years), ‘Why is my mother dying and suffering like this, she is such a good person, why would God do this’. I have addressed this question very well for a long time. But I feel like that, ‘Why did God allow evil to win, and take away from Trump and the people what he rightfully won’. Its painful, it’s not right, but I am not losing faith or anything. It’s just hard to understand why evil would get away with this. I keep the faith and trust in God.

Right now without the Trump movement in power the world just became a much more dangerous place. Deep state socialist in America, globalists around the world, and communists in China are trying to take over America and all the good, freedom and Godliness that she is about. But I believe God has a plan and we will keep up the good fight and prevail in the end.

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!” (Matthew 18: 5,6)

For peace of mind I find it invaluable to see God knows our will, and the love we have for him and our country. This is not an escape from reality for He still wants us to act on our will and do what we can. For instance, I do what I can to take action, I consistently donate to Trump movement, and conservatives fighting for justice, I let my voice be heard, share on forums and help to build people’s faith. In God We Trust.

On the contrary side, as the scripture above tells, its one thing to aline with evil forces, but to willfully recruit others into evil is crossing a terrible line, and this is what the dem leaders have done and are doing.

The dem leaders don’t represent or care an ounce about the people but serve an agenda that is nothing less than evil, and they will not change. History and spiritual principle confirms that; they are too far gone. They have shown over and over how completely dedicated they are to a destructive agenda. Some GOP leaders are like them, but they still care about appearances to a degree, the dem leaders don’t even care about appearances anymore. Keeping up appearances used to keep them in check to a degree but not anymore. Hard core Evil doesn’t change, but seeks deeper and deeper destruction. That is what we are up against. But, many of the regular people who don’t know what the ‘bought’ may change. It’s strange how many intelligent people support the dem leaders (who do and care nothing about them), and how they blindly hate Trump (who loves them). People I know here in the bay area fight for the dems, justify their actions; some people at work laugh about the election, delighting in thinking they humiliated Trump.

It is very disturbing, never thought America would come to this. How we Feel is part of it, because we have suffered real loss of something we most dearly love; it’s also an injustice, and we have to deal with the consequences of all this. Without fair elections that are just our country is not what it used to be. Painful to take in. Hopefully we can fight to get back to where we were.

In Lamentations (from the Bible) the response to deep suffering is modeled for us; the people wail with complaints at God, and wrestle with what God is doing, but they are taking their feelings to Him.

Lamentations shows how God is big enough to handle all our anger and despair, and that these feelings are safe with him God is not the cause of evil and never inflicts evil on anyone. Man is the cause of evil because he is in freedom; man’s freedom is in the balance between good and evil – for this is the only possible way a person can have self agency, an identity, sovereignty – to ‘become’ – to bond with God from himself. Freedom is the means of salvation and the cause of hell! Evil comes from a man’s capacity for selfishness and greed and hate.

The universe would quickly cease to exist if God were ever less than love – just as in a sun, as soon as it begins to produce iron in its core it is a matter of seconds that it will explode. It is the love and wisdom of God alone that creates and sustains the universe, if he is anything less….

To think God is the cause of evil inflames the negative and self-destructive impulses in the suffering person. Imagine telling someone who is struggling with the feeling that God is punishing them that God is the one who inflicts evil. If they really theologically believe that God is against them, then there is nothing that can help – self destructiveness is justified. Such a notion arises from external thinking. God never causes evil, but allows evil for the providential purpose of removing evil. The Lord is the redemptive force of love in our hearts and minds. He is the comforter; and His love is closest when we are most ill and suffering. We don’t see it with our physical eyes but we can feel it if we but seek it in humility. It is irrational, an (understandable) emotional reaction to blame God for the evil that happens. We can take all these feelings to Him. He wants what is real, and to process with us. God is good itself.

Meditation on a Candle, Meditation on Christ

January 6th, 2021

A candle symbolizes Christ, specifically his self-giving love and the gifts of life we receive from Him. The candle provides light and warmth as it consumes its own substance, the wax. The wax and wick work in symbiosis, in other words, form a union that sustains a flame when lit. They work in symbiosis, (though in a simpler way), like the heart and lungs work together in inion to sustain every cell of the body with nutrients. The wax and wick work in union to sustain a flame. In its own small way the candle is a reflection of the sun. In the sun there is a union between gravity and nuclear fusion for these cause the form of the sun. Nuclear fusion is ignited in the core of the sun by the immense pressure of gravity caused by the immense mass of the sun. In turn nuclear fusion expands against the gravity while consuming the mass of the sun and creates light and heat.

So too, Jesus gives of his own substance – He merged his body and soul into perfect union and thus glorified His body so that light was exponentially more available to man. And this light is the source of never ending in-filling love. He ‘drew all things unto himself’. And, when we are regenerated, and thus have light in ourselves, we give light to each other.

In the candle the wick, usually braided cotton, burns and produces a flame. When the wick is lit a chain of events begins. Wax, which is present on and near the wick, begins to melt. At that point, the wick absorbs the liquid wax (which has just melted) and pulls it upwards (due to capillary action). The heat of the flame vaporizes the fuel (molten wax), which in turn combines with oxygen in the air (combustion) to produce a constant flame.

A candle uses heat to produce light. In order to do that, it makes use of a process called combustion, which is basically the burning of a substance in the presence of oxygen, and produces heat and light. Here, the fuel is wax, which is composed of complex carbon compounds. Wax burns in the presence of oxygen to produce carbon dioxide gas, which is colorless. The smoke that you see is because wax never burns in a completely clean way.

This process in a candle is a simple example of a universal principle. The pulling-in and wicking-up, or capillary action, of the wax as fuel is an example of the universal principle that everything has its beginning from outermost parts, and these outer parts provide for and moves toward the essential inner action; meaning, in all brith and manifestation,  the external parts are first made and the internal parts are made from it. For instance, in the embryo in the womb the beginning of the arterial system is in the skin, not the heart. This may seem surprising, but it is illustrated by the similar and well-known fact that the beginnings of the woody fibres of trees are in the leaves, not the stem or the roots. Through the pith and the delicate fibres of the bark, nourishment ascends to the first tender leaves, and from these descends the first woody fibres that provide the build-up between the bark and the pith, (the leaves also provide the fibres that build the roots. Through these woody and cortical fibres sap afterwards ascends to the leaves, and new buds and leaves are formed, which in turn send down other fibres, and thus the trunk of the tree grows in concentric layers of wood – every fibre of which has descended from the leaves. In a similar way, the materials and strands of the nervous system, the beginnings of blood vessels, and the tissues of the organs are produced in the skin, and are sustained and reproduced from tissues of the skin. The process of membranes being produced in the ‘ultimates of the body, and especially from the skin’ comes from a universal principle that operates throughout life.

A similar process took place in Jesus, though of much larger scope. The process that took place in Christ is the universal master-key for all processes. It humbles us to contemplate the magnitude of what Jesus did, but things like the candle help us to see it.  It is ultimately incomprehensible to understand Jesus’s process because he is infinite and we are finite – but that is no reason not to seek – it just means there is no end to what we can seek, and come to understand. The whole reason He was born here was to make himself accessible and known, so that He could redeem and regenerate our soul.

Jesus in His life on earth, day by day, moment by moment, ‘consumed’ the hereditary evil in His body. His hereditary evil was in the body only, which is of the external part of the self. His internal was divine because from the Father and thus contained no evil, but divine good and truth. Because He was born on earth, Like all humans, He had hereditary evil from His mother who was human. By ‘consumed the hereditary evil’, I mean He removed the evil out of Himself by overcoming each and every temptation that confronted Him, or that tried to seduce Him. He could be drawn in to temptation because He had hereditary evil in His body, but by addressing and overcoming each and every one – even to the last on the cross – He made his human body divine! In this process He carried the whole of humanity with Him in an internal way. Humanity had lost its connection to God by becoming almost completely external in its religion and so spiritually had atrophied. People don’t understand that this was a very real disconnect in the psyche and soul of man, a disconnect of the avenues that can bond us to heaven and God. Jesus rebuilt these avenues of connection in the psyche of mankind by doing it in himself in a body, on earth, among us; by loving all humanity, by teaching people, and by establishing the new church.

Just as the union of the wax and wick sustain a flame that can light a room, the union of Jesus body and soul produces light and heat that sustains the whole of the universe and all mankind. Light and heat  produced from a candle brings light and warmth to people in a room. In Jesus, from the Holy marriage of His divine body and soul proceeds, as from a fountain, the Holy fire that created and sustains all of life. Unlike a candle, or anything else that exists, God is uncreated. Like a candle Jesus was born on the material earth – the divine one had to overcome the inertia of this world, and He did. Jesus made His body divine in the resurrection – and took it up into heaven. Jesus is in the midst of the spiritual sun above heaven from which proceeds wisdom (light) and love (heat), and these are life, the very spiritual substance of all life, and that perpetually sustains life.

Description of the Darkness on the Earth Before Jesus Was Born, and the Internal Sense of the Scriptures that Refer to this Darkness: How Evangelical Religion Misinterprets the Scriptures With Doom and Gloom in Present Times

November 25th, 2020

The impact of the imbalance of evil over good in the time before Jesus is demonstrated on Earth in the lives of people in many ways. We will examine several of these. When Paul, Isaiah, John, and Jesus all speak of the light and the dark, we tend to think they are speaking in metaphors. This is part of the truth, but I also believe they are speaking of a palpable presence and a constant threat much more than we might think. They are urging and guiding the people to see the way out from under the spell of the dark imbalance. No person could fight the force of the evil imbalance by his or herself. However, by acknowledging the divinity of Jesus, they could come into His presence and protection. First let us look at some examples in scripture that refer to the cosmic imbalance:

Arise, shine, for your light has come. Behold, darkness is covering the earth, and thick darkness over the peoples, but Jehovah will arise upon you. (Isaiah 60:1)

Behold the savage day of Jehovah will come, a day of the rage of his anger. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened in its rising, and the moon will not shed its light. (Isaiah 13:9,10)

The day of Jehovah is coming, a day of darkness and blackness. The sun and the moon will be blackened, and the stars will withdraw their splendor. (Joel 2:1,2)

Each of these passages refers to the end of the universal church (Jewish church) and to the destruction that would come upon the people if imbalance were not corrected. It all sounds very mythical, and some people take it that way. These scriptures, however, are examples of prophecies from the Old Testament describing the dire situation before Jesus was born. The following scriptures are examples of the language in the Bible that describe the end of the church, and they give a more palpable feel of the force of darkness clashing with the light in the New Testament:

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Mat. 6:23)

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. (Mat. 4:16)

And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. (Mark 15:33)

When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. (Luke 22:53)

But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. (1 John 2:11)

The palpable sense of this darkness is most clearly seen in the way the people believed in sin and death. The ancient people did not think about sin and death as moderns do. They spoke in a way that shows sin and death to be cosmic forces. Ehrman explains the historical situation of the darkness at this time very concisely:

“It (sin) is instead a kind of cosmic power, an evil force that compels people to live in alienation from God. The human problem under this model is that people are enslaved to this demonic power and are unable to break free from their bondage…The power of sin is related to another power, the power of death. In the participation model, death is not simply something that happens when a person stops breathing. It is a cosmic force that is intent on enslaving people; when it succeeds, it totally removes a person from the realm of god. Here again the situation is desperate; all people are subject to the overpowering force of death, and there is nothing they can do to set themselves free”. (Ehrman, 355)

This description is a representation of the effects of the cosmic over-abundance of evil as the people experienced it. Imagine a Mediterranean person’s situation at this time. Evil had undue influence in their lives. The oppressive force, the dread of death and the cosmic force of sin, was something to which they were subject, and from which they could not escape. Death for them was not a ‘passing-on to a better place,’ but was a fearful place to be avoided at all cost; it was the most dreaded of all cosmic forces (Ehrman, 355). This is why, as I pointed out above, people of honor developed a sort of ‘popular natural science of the gods,’ which they used to seek knowledge of cosmic patrons for protection from evil forces (Malina, 112).

In Thessalonians, Paul paints a picture of this situation from the people’s perspective:

“For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction cometh upon them as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that Day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunken are drunken in the night”. (1 Thessalonians 5: 2-7)

When Paul describes the people being drunk and asleep, he sees that, without the protection of the Lord, the people are swallowed up. They are shadows of themselves because of the excessive infuence of evil. It might be comparable to people that take drugs for too long. Eventually, they become something else, exhibiting a dangerous vacancy in the eyes and behavior that cares for no-one. There is a tragic loss of identity in these cases. But, in the time of which we are speaking, it is a communal loss of identity threatening humanity. This is the influence of evil run amok in the imbalance.

Some people, when they read the points I make about the times before Jesus, say, “Those times are no different from now.” But there is a big difference. Times of imbalance in equilibrium are very rare. At that time, the presence of evil was out of control on earth, whereas now, good and evil must play within the laws of freedom. The darkness on the planet before Jesus came was the greatest it had ever been and will ever be, so the power and effect of evil was much greater. In Matthew, it is said: “The abomination of desolation will come, and an affliction such as has never existed before and never will again. The sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven” (Matthew 24:15, 21, 29). And, in the Book of Revelation: “Satan will be released from his prison. He will go out to lead astray the nations that are in the four corners of the earth, whose number is like the sand of the sea” (Revelation 20:7, 8). This later verse refers to the Second Coming, yet gives an idea that both are apocalyptic times of cosmic imbalance.

Evangelicals commonly use the scripture from Thessalonians above and some of the others I quoted as proof for the rapture; that is, at the end times of the Second Coming there will be a time of trial and darkness in which half the population will die, and the Lord will come back to earth in person. They claim that those who express faith in the Lord will be taken up to be with the Lord in a rapture, similar to the way Elijah was taken up. They say that the Lord will show up riding on a white horse leading an enormous parade. This is a literal interpretaton of the Bible. I believe this literal interpretation is greatly mistaken. All these scriptures have an internal sense and are not referring to earthly events, but heavenly events in which the captives are released from the evil forces that have intercepted them in the world of spirits and put in false heavens during the imbalance. Evangelicals mistake the great joy of those released from the false heavens for what they call the ‘rapture’ which they falsely interpret as an earthly event. For evangelicals the rapture means that the ‘elect’ on earth will be taken up to heaven after Jesus gathers them from around the earth in the great parade.

Also, the extreme language of the light and darkness used in the Gospel of John, and especially in Paul’s letters, addresses the immediate, dire situation of evil oppressing humanity around the times of Christ. Evangelicals mistakenly interpret this language, formulating a doctrine of terrible times coming in the future, known as the millenium. This intense language about dire times is also a big source of ‘fire and brimstone’ preaching. This preaching has truth to it in the sense that it warns of the consequences of hell, but it is often applied in a very external way that has turned many people off. It is a misinterpretation to a degree, because, as we shall see in the chapters on the Second Coming, the Second Coming has already happened, and we now live in the Church of the New Jarusalem in which everyone can have a direct relationship with Christ, and we are not subject to an imbalance of evil as then. As everyone in modern times has seen, the end times and the Second Coming have been predicted to occur on certain dates several times, and much to the predictors embarrassment it never happens. All of this is to show that interpreting the Bible in a purely literal sense causes mistakes, which is understandable since most people are not aware of the internal sense.

But with the internal sense we can understand these verses very deeply. When Paul writes to the people, “Ye are all the children of light and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” We can see how he is urging the people to come out from under the spell of sin. They felt sin as a communal, cosmic force oppressing them, which is the direct effect of the cosmic imbalance. Paul was showing them that Jesus defeated these forces, and he was giving them the great promise that they can be free from that by receiving the teaching and presence of Jesus. Theologically, Evangelicals see this language as meaning that Jesus removed sin ‘en mass’ from all humanity, that He did it unilaterally. They say that He sacrificed himself as payment, or ransom, for our collective and individual sins and that He removed these sins from the body and soul of each person. But this is not the case. This is not even possible because, as said above, the relationship between God and man is reciprocal, and man must work out his salvation in cooperation with God in freedom. In reality, Jesus’ acts of redemption were to battle and defeat the oppressive cosmic forces of evil, to judge and destroy the false heavens, to put all hell back into its place, and to restore order in heaven, thus restoring freedom and making Himself immediately present to us without representation. He indeed did these things by the might of His divine soul alone in the spiritual world, while at the same time teaching people on earth how to be internal men and women and to live with charity in the new church. By restoring equilibrium, humanity could live in freedom and have the opportunity to live in direct relationship to God (Himself). These are His works of redemption – redemption is not the cleansing of sin from the bodies of all people and taking it into Himself. Everyone must cooperate with and respond to God by exercising their own will for a change of heart to be real. It is understandable that these misunderstandings have stood so long when we consider the fact that humanity mainly knew only the literal sense of the Bible. Without an understanding of the internal sense of the Word, the literal sense seems to indicate that Jesus will show up on earth and lead the people on a white horse, bear their sins, and lead them into the new millenium. So, the constant preaching about Jesus bearing our sins and the constant waiting for Jesus to show up in a white cloud goes on and on. It has become tradition to believe this, but it is not the message of the Bible. In the chapter on the captives and the Second Coming, I will show from the Bible the time and the process of the Second Coming.

Insight Into the Nature of Memory in Heaven, and How the Nature of Memory There is an Extraordinary Blessing From God; And What We Can Learn From It”.

November 9th, 2020

The way the Lord guides our memory in heaven is a huge part of heavenly joy and happiness. It is truly an amazing grace that he gives to his beloved children. Memory there corresponds to wonderful gardens and paradises where there are beautiful plants, flowers, palaces and patios, and magnificent trees. These are places of peace, full of meaning and inner delight.

Paraphrasing Swedenborg (I add some edits to make it easier to read): Heavenly loves and delights come from love to the Lord and love toward the neighbor. The more one allows themself to be led by the Lord the more they become their own, that is, their true self. The thoughts and affections of a person in heaven are led by the Lord so that the person sees and chooses nothing else in the fields and gardens of their memory but those things which agree with the delights of their loves and with the doctrinal principles of their church. To them the things of the memory are like heavenly paradises, and in the Word they are also represented and signified by paradises.
Be it known further that when memory-knowledges, that is, the things of the memory, become of the man’s life, they vanish from the exterior memory, just as the gestures, actions, speech, reflections, intentions, and in general the thoughts and affections of man are wont to do, when by continual use or habit they become as it were spontaneous and natural; but no other things become of man’s life than those which enter into the delights of his loves and form them; thus those which enter into his will. (n. 3220)

The later paragraph brings to light something very important to ground ourself in. It shows that nothing is done by magic as our external mind tends to think, but life here and in heaven are always a process of becoming, meaning our will, body and soul must be exercised in cooperation with God in order to change. The action we reciprocally take part in is the very source of joy and delight, because in it we are choosing and making a bond between our body and soul, and with God. (Above Swedenborg calls this ‘becomes of the man’s life’.) I believe Swedenborg is also saying the actions we take that become a bond become part of our muscle memory so to speak; they become second nature; they become our own, and so, in continuing to build on this process we come into new levels of bonding, and by this continually increase in joy. This process only takes place when one’s ruling love is expressed in use to the neighbor and to God in some way.

In the gardens of heaven the further we go into them, among its features and paths, the more beautiful they become. Beauty is the form of love. Correspondingly, the further one goes within their internal self the more space and light there is; this is very clear in heaven. As Swedenborg says in the first part of the quote above the things in our memory that cause distress gradually fall away, not by being unilaterally removed, but because of a process of non attachment, because we move passed them as we are changing and birthing into a new life. The new goals, talents, excitement and skills in our mind and soul cause us to grow beyond the old memories so they are of no effect. Unless a memory is true to our new ruling love it falls away. This is expressed in the Bible verse, “All your tears shall be washed away’. These memories never completely disappear but move to the outside perimeter of our being. In heaven everything that is around us in our environment, items in ones home, everything in the landscape, in nature, in the palaces and places of worship correspond to the ruling loves in our soul.

This is an extraordinary blessing, and it is very different than in this world. Heaven is so masterfully and fluidly orchestrated from spiritual principle and divine order that every individual is surrounded by things that affirm their inner loves and joy. But here we are in the mix with evil and we have a material body which makes it hard to let go of distress and conflict. (We are meant to deal with this so that we can choose good over evil of our own will). Here there are constant reminders of suffering and injustice, and the natural body is sticky and gummy when it comes to letting go of attachments. Here our painful memories and traumas are stimulated by difficult situations, people, and authorities in our environment all the time. In heaven life is filled with opportunities to perform uses that use our skills and are fulfilling. Though not as easy, here we can do this also; we need to make it our mission to do so.

THE AMAZING PROCESS BY WHICH JESUS MADE HIS HUMAN DIVINE LOVE IN THE GLORIFICATION

October 31st, 2020

(This article is the sister to the last post. I have wanted to write this for a long time and since people showed enthusiasm for the last one I did so. I am writing it as concisely as I can again, but I think it will take effort and concentration to follow.)

Jesus was tempted and assaulted by evil during the course of His whole life. The 40 days and 40 nights that the Lord was tempted are symbolic of temptations that actually took place his whole life. These temptations and battles that took place were of an intensity far beyond what we could even imagine. The process of overcoming these temptations is how Christ purified his human and accomplished the glorification. In the last post I described how he made His Human divine truth; in this post I am describing the process of how he made His human divine love. (I see this as the single most fascinating subject there is).

Christ could be tempted by evil because he had a human body from his mother. All humans have Hereditary evil; it is passed from generation to generation through the body, and the soul. The evil that comes from the father is more interior, because of the soul; and the evil that comes from the mother is more exterior, because from the body. Hereditary evil in the body can be removed by regeneration. Interior evil from the soul can be regenerated, but cannot be removed. Therefore, because Christ soul was from Jehovah himself, he had no interior evil from the Father, but he did have hereditary evil from the mother in His body. By being born Jesus ‘entered the fish bowl’, so to speak, that is, He made himself accessible to all humanity, and at the same time to all evil. But the brilliance of this is that Jesus now had access to evil. He needed to be able to be tempted by the evil so He could subjugate all evil!

Also, it is essential to understand that God (in His purity) could not come down and change humans. For if God in His purity were to approach a man He would instantly destroy any man. It would be like approaching the sun. The hereditary evil in man would burn up. But because God was born a man on earth with hereditary evil He could be among humans and not destroy them. (It is also essential to see that before the incarnation humanity and religion had separated themself from God, for there was no more charIty in the church. This was lost in a very real way, which I demonstrate at length in my book but it is too much to describe here.)
The Lord grew like other men. He learned and grew in skills, except at a much greater rate and power. With his exceptional spiritual and intellectual skills he was tempted by spiritual pride, and every other vice during his growth. Day by day, step-by-step, He overcame all temptations. Evil forces tempted Him with power, fame, greed, wealth, and comfort. He was tempted but He never sinned. The nature of sin is that as long as we are mulling a deed over in mind, it is not yet sin, but when the deed enters our will, it becomes sin. Jesus was tempted to rage, vengeance, lust, pride, and self-love. The evil knew who He was and unrelentingly tried to persuade him to sinful actions by incredible magical arts. But Jesus overcame all temptation! He was able to see and reject the evil of men and women.
To give some insight to the depth of these assaults, Swedenborg writes that even the angels of heaven tempted Him, because angles, even though good, are former humans and have remnants of hereditary evil. Swedenborg writes: “He foresaw and overcame the most subtle of all temptations from the angels”. It took the power and might of His Divine Soul to overcome and do what no human could do.

Christ’s greatest temptation had to do with his boundless love and compassion for humanity. The evil forces knew this, so like terrorists on earth, they sought to destroy that which He loves the most in order to torment Him.

Now it is very important to note that evil attacks according to ones innermost love, for from this they can destroy a person’s life; and because Christ possessed the greatest love to ever be all the forces of hell sought to destroy him. Each time Christ overcame a temptation He removed hereditary evil from His body and took another step in purifying His human body. And each time He removed hereditary evil, He entered a greater state of light, and the state of his love rose to a higher level.
Now, let’s examine the implications of this process. The progressive temptations the Lord underwent and overcame, and the ever-increasing love He opened to, sets up an ever-increasing equation. As said above, it is a universal law of the hells that they seek to destroy a person by attacking their innermost love, and every time a temptation is overcome one’s state of love increases to a new level. In the case of Christ, His soul possessed infinite potential because His father was God. Swedenborg writes, “Because this love (of Christ toward humanity) was not human but Divine, and temptation is great in proportion as the love is great, it is evident how grievous were His combats, and how great the ferocity on the part of the hells. That these things were so I know of a certainty”. So the ever-increasing formula is this: the more Christ overcame temptations and purified his human the higher his quality of love became, which in turn led the hells to attack with increased force at the higher level, and when He overcame that temptation, His quality of love increased again, and so on to the point of infinity! Here is an amazing way to understand this further. I believe this process of the Glorification has correspondence to Einstein’s theory of particle acceleration; the later of which states: The closer a particle approaches the speed of light, the greater its mass becomes, and this increase continues exponentially to the horizon of infinity. The formula states: the values of mass becomes greater as the velocity of the moving body approaches the velocity of light. If the speed of the object reaches the speed of light then theoretically the mass becomes infinitely.

But it is also a universal law of physics that matter can never reach the speed of light for there is an infinite inertia that prevents it. Its inertial resistance grows to an infinite extent and prevents the velocity of light from being reached (Max Born, Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, 277).
The process of the Glorification and the formula of particle acceleration correspond. But in the Glorification Jesus broke all the laws of physics, and He broke the universal law that the material can never enter the spiritual world. This correspondence informs how profoundly rigorous and how profoundly unique the Glorification is. It is only the infinite love, wisdom and power of Jesus that could overcome the the law of the infinite inertia of the material world and make His body divine.

Compared to Einstein’s formula I we could say that m (mass) corresponds to the body of Jesus, and v(velocity) corresponds to the accelerating love and wisdom of Jesus; c (the speed of light) corresponds to reaching the infinite potential, making his body divine, and entering the innermost of all things. The inertial resistance corresponds to the barrier between the natural world and the spiritual world, which physical substance (a body) cannot cross.

Max Born’s statement about the infinite resistance of inertia preventing the speed of light helps us appreciate the miraculous nature of the resurrection. Jesus removed the last resistance by overcoming the last temptation on the cross. When He did this the earth shook and the curtain for the Holy of Holies was rent, which indicates there was a universal change of state in earth and heaven. His love and presence extended now from the minutest material to above heaven. He became the alpha and omega; He entered the innermost of all things. The only way to overcome the universal law of physics is to become the new innermost law of everything. In short He resurrected his body and brought into heaven. This is the mystery of all mysteries and the greatest event in all History.
